TLXN: THE LOVE X NOWHERE: News

the walls came a tumbling... - September 30, 2008

.....no news is good news? in the studio, pre-production mode. search and rescue for the missing parts of songs, then mend them back together. the critical ear becomes the critical mind, and perspective gets warped from enclosure. definitely time to air these things out, so excited to announce the next live event, with Trophy Fire and Capgun Coup at Rickshaw on Nov. 19. We'll be the early boys (and girl) and do our gosh-darndest to entertain ourselves by entertaining you. Ahh, let's sell presumption at the bar, and we'll all make out just dandy!!

We came, Rick-shaw... - July 11, 2008

Thanks to everyone who came out last night. Although we had played at Bottom of the Hill last month, this really felt like our proper re-introduction to San Francisco. It's such a treat to share our new songs with y'all, and present ourselves properly as the new TLXN, the Mie-era TLXN. Seems pretty obvious this will be the best incarnation yet. The communication within in the rhythm section is the best it's ever been, both lingually and musically. From that foundation the rest is so much simpler, and the space within the music is refreshing. There's a few more yet to be debuted, and we are currently looking for the next appropriate venue and date to display our wares. Meanwhiles, hope you all enjoy the demo of Gosseberry. Stay in touch, spread the word, many thanks from TLXN.

Good Times on the Road with Dredg - April 27, 2008

Were any of you out there in the audience? Damn good times were had by all in Sacto and SLO, and much love and thanks go out to Dredg for hosting our sorry asses. One of these days it'll be our own bootstraps that get the pull, and the audiences will turn from respectful to enthusiastic. Gotta believe in something I suppose....

the next record? - March 14, 2008

Let's see. New drummer - check. New songs - check. No label - check. Must be time for a new record. A sneak peak for the four of you out there paying attention. Possible songs include; Turns, Gooseberry, The Din, Twilight Mourning, Razor Blue, Diz, Just For Now Again, and Knockoff. Let the blogging begin!

the arrival of Mie... - March 5, 2008

...brings new life to the band. Stay tuned as we develop this new musical relationship into something to be shared with all of you. We'll be celebrating our new drummer-ship with a small California tour in mid-April. Kind as always, our friends Dredg are taking us along for a few shows with them as they make their way down to perform at Coachella.

How about that new Helio Sequence record everyone? Those guys got it all figured out. And Radiohead in Golden Gate Park this August. I'm heading over there now to put down my blanket. Who's got the acid?

Love, in a different position - October 31, 2007

Howdee-who bullafaloo,
As the Love turns sideways and we all figure out where to go and how to proceed, our individual directions generate other wondrous events for you all to ingest and enjoy.

Yuki's current other project "Nyles Lannon band" will
play on Nov. 3rd (Sat) at Rickshaw Stop with MINIPOP
and Built for the sea. It will be MINIPOP's CD release
party, and party they will.

And..... Sat. Nov. 3rd, across town and in a rhythm versus melody fashion, Gabriel and Michael will be DJing at the Mezzanine, before, between, and after the Do Make Say Think show.

In other earth shattering and head spinning news, the brothers Chulada are working towards a SadSadFun revival, with late December plans for recording. Gabriel is recording a lovely quartet called The Wayside State, and gearing up for The Letter Why, a continuation of his musical collaboration with our lovely Summer. Keep an ear out for a springtime release, physical as well as figurative. Brett readies material for his acoustic solo debut, a self described reflective journey to his roots as an open-mic standout. Hooray for music!!!

Thanks Dredg - September 27, 2007

TLXN Version 4.6 would like to thank the Dredg kids for having us open their shows in Reno and San Francisco. Truly fun and amazing to see the Great American Music Hall full of fans, and to play our songs for the gathered masses. Our surrogate Super Jaded Rhythm Section (Adam Berkowitz and Michael Godwin) pretty much killed it, we truly couldn't have asked for more from those guys. Hope we can do it all over again before too long.

Reno and Redding... - April 11, 2007

.... beat Seattle and Portland. Who woulda thunk it? A huge tlxn thanks to the Reno bicyle kids who have pedaled their way in to legitimate scenesterism (the good kind), and the truly kind Redding folks, who were the most genuine and welcoming we met along the way. We did it for ourselves, we did it for our friends, and quite often we did it for no-one at all, but it was done with honest hearts and presence of mind. The Road was kind, more please...

Oh I wished I woulda got to know you better.... - March 31, 2007

Freak storms in LA knocking out the power. Calla and Immigrant in hometown SF. Friends and loves and great music at the Rickshaw. Broken vows to never G St. again, and sins made apparent by the folks outside the bar in Roseville, with their 15 foot crucifix staring us down. Good thing they can't find us in Reno tonight, where sin is forgiven and even encouraged. Hoping Freeway is on the freeway to meet us, cuz it's just better with him around the sound. And with all the miles ahead, we take solace in his name as some sort of safety talisman. Our friend Crayonsmith has warned of beauty and good audiences in La Grande, Oregon, which follows Reno on our small adventure. And then the coast, which feels like home no matter how far north or south we travel. Someday we'll all sleep with the sound of the waves, now won't we?

Podcast Interview - March 19, 2007

Misha of TowerPod's 'Belly of the Bay' podcast did an interview with TLXN last week, and they took Jim Greer of Rondo Brothers along for the ride. Listen or download here: http://tinyurl.com/33r4a9

TLXN Freaks Unite! - February 23, 2007

Hey, it's the Ring Bear AKA Adam AKA excited about opening for Calla at the Rickshaw. So...last night at Bottom of the Hill was fun (if rainy) but we didn't get much feedback on the jumpsuits -- si or no? If you weren't there, check out some of the pictures and tell us what you think. Speaking of YOU, Nascent Magazine just wrote a delightful piece on The Love X Nowhere and had this to say about you: "TLXN fans are not aging hippies (well, some of them may be), but moreso hipsters and indie rockers who like to spin My Bloody Valentine and Cocteau Twins records late at night." Funny, I thought our fans played video games late at night, but I remembered that was actually me. Anyway, you can read the whole article in the press section.

The Automator Files - December 15, 2006

OK, so I've been on tour with Dan the Automator as the guitarist in his band on the 2K7 sponsored Bounce tour. We started in San Luis Obispo about two and half weeks ago, and have now looped through NorCal, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and back to SoCal, where tonight we will play our final show at the amazing El Rey Theatre. So many stories to tell, as this group includes amazingly diverse individuals with incredibly variant backgrounds. I highly recommend y'all check out the amazing artists who are part of this show, listed below.
Dan the Automator and his work with Gorillaz, Lovage, Dr. Octogon, and Deltron 3030, and Jamie Cullum
Gavin's band Dredge
The Rondo Bros. (featuring Kelly Atkins from 20 Min. Loop)
Chali 2Na from Jurassic 5
Casual from Heiroglyphics
AG from D.I.T.C (Diggin' In The Crates)
John Lee Hardee
Opening act Common Market
Not for Not
And of course, yours truly and The Love X Nowhere

Let's put 2006 in a box.... - November 25, 2006

....and wrap it up. TLXN will see you all in the '07, as we're taking just a wee break from performing for the remainder of the year. What are our holiday plans you ask??? We'll let's see. Adam is playing a make believe New Years Eve show at Bottom of the Hill. Gabriel and Summer are moving to Treat St., in the inner Mission, and Gabriel is touring with Dan the Automator in his band. Michael is on permanent vacation, and boy does it smell good. Brett and Erin are the best of friends, and continue giving quality service in the food establishments of their choosing. Yuki is taking Paola to Japan, and somehow has to explain to his mother their unmarried status. Freeway is working at Bimbo's and Vikram is dancing to Sascha. Gina is visiting with Zach as his unemployment looms, and Erin and Pete are quite likely frozen solid in the icy tundra of Norway. Brad and Kim are moving to Fairfax for reasons of multiplication we all presume, and Rob has quite likely abandoned his TLXN friendships for an elevated yet unstable balloon ride. Nakiesha is coming back to work (thank god), and Maleea continues to maintain her #1 fan status. Nick is going back to Ireland to soak in the rains of his sordid past, as the Bagel gets set for a second dose of fatherhood. Tom and Nicole are waiting for snow on Donner Lake and Alexi (my nephew) thinks we're all growing in to a compost pile. Isn't life Grand!!!

a how to guide on futility... - October 12, 2006

On the verge of ridiculousness, this whole rock 'n roll thing. "Listen to MY song" she cries, "for MINE is the only one worth listening to. Ignore those imposters of treason, those sullying snakes of the underground. MY own importance is overwhelmingly obvious, if only you had the sense to do as I say." The leaflets they gave us boot camp laid out our career path quite clearly, but they came from the wrong tree i believe. For my tree grows from earth not poisoned by contempt and watered with the tears of a 50 mile-an-hour wind that's been blowing in our eyes since the days when we first founded our small collective. Roots not compromised by the myriad of tunnels dug by the furrowing creatures of yester-year. Carbon emissions not fettered by the reasonable constraints of human decency. "Onward we must", is the refrain from she who wantonly abuses her privelage of microphone. Go ahead and follow her stream, we all know where that leads!!!

And the drummer speaks... - September 12, 2006

"Hey, this is Adam from TLXN. It was a wild summer...between the 'Into the Fire' EP-release, the big wedding, gigs all down the coast (and right here at our beloved 12 Galaxies), Burningman, Pittsburgh (PA) and kidnappings in Cotati, we had ourselves a time. But school (scuola) is in session once again, and just like last fall The Love X Nowhere has new material in the works that we'll soon share with you in concert, and hopefully on our first-ever full-length album. So dont go anywhere, because we're not. Unless there's a Steelers game on."

Six thousand one hundred.... - June 13, 2006

...and twelve thank you's to those who came out to the Rickshaw for our record release. We make music, you listen to it, and hence our heads spin 'round. Hope to see all the North Bay folks at The Last Day Saloon next Friday!!!

come with us.... - May 20, 2006

....Into the Fire. Pre-sale tickets for our Into the Fire record ((((release show are now available at Rickshaw Stop are now available online at Virtuous.com))))) We are also happy to announce that Liquid Light Productions will be accompanying our set with stunning visuals. A not-to-be-missed event. See you all there.

All ages.... - April 12, 2006

....really means teenagers. There they were, scenesters in the making, not yet old enough to know that enthusiasm is frowned upon in the hip circles of indiedom. We thank you young San Franciscans, for bouncing along during our set. You made it fun for all of us, and even though you weren't drunk, we were, so it gets hard to tell the difference. Thanks also to Candy From Strangers, who striaight up rocked that crowd, and saved us all from the encroaching trap of corporate crooners. We're doing it for Yuki!!!

last gasps.... - March 28, 2006

....of winter caught us in the Sierras. But as we waited for the van to be pulled free from a snowbank, we settled past and future disputes with an hour-long snowball fight. Laverde (our van) held strong and carried us safely to and fro. As we wait patiently for new things to happen, we gladly announce our inclusion in the premier episode of the Alternative Chris channel on the spankin' new Towerpod.com website, Tower Records foray into the world of podcasting. Check out an interview with Brett and Gabriel included in the episode here:
http://towerpod.com/channels.html?id=12

the gopher speaks - March 25, 2006

The Love X Nowhere is proud to announce our spankin' new affiliation with management firm Mindful Artists. Founder and owner Neil Glazer will now be handling all of our management functions. TLXN would like to thank him very much for his continued belief in us and our music. We expect many good things to come of this relationship in the coming years. Stay tuned for more exciting news in summer 2006.
